1. preheat oven at 350°F.
2. mix dry ingredients in lg bowl.
3. in separate bowlblend sugars and shortening until fluffy with hand mixer..
4. add molasses, spices, and egg to mixture, blend well.
5. mix in dry ingredients in 3 separate additions, blend well.
6. gradually add chocolate chips, coconut, rasins, and nuts. blend well.
7. drop by rounded teaspoons on greased cookie sheet.
8. bake in 350°F oven for 8-10 minutes.
